Google, oleh Microsoft dituduh telah melakukan pelanggaran hak cipta. Thomas Rubin, Microsoft Associate General Counsel menyampaikan pernyataan yang "menampar" Google. Rubin mengatakan bahwa Google secara sistematik melakukan pelanggaran hak cipta.
Rubin menyebut layanan Google Book Search dan YouTube telah melakukan pelanggaran hak cipta dengan cara yang congkak.
"Google memposisikan diri seolah-olah semuanya bisa di-copy secara gratis, meski para pemilik hak cipta telah memperingatkan Google dan memintanya berhenti," kata Rubin seperti dikutip dari Reuters, Rabu (7/3/2007).
Pernyataan tersebut mewakili keluhan lima penerbit besar yang mengajukan tuntutan hak cipta kepada Google sejak 16 bulan lalu.
Google yang merupakan pemain dominan di layanan mesin cari merupakan pesaing penting Microsoft yang juga bermain di pasar mesin cari di Web. Google juga berekspansi ke bisnis software yang merupakan lahan utama Microsoft. (nks/nks)
